Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park The Sierra Nevada is one of the most beautiful natural parks in Colombia. It is located in Santa Marta, only 75 km from the city. It is known as the "Ancestral Territory" of several native peoples. This natural sanctuary with pyramidal shape is isolated from the Andes Mountains. It is the highest mountain on a coastline, reaching 5775 meters from the Caribbean coast. Inside is the Teyuna Archaeological Park, known as the "Lost City", dating back to 700 AD. The city was discovered in 1973 and today is one of the great attractions of the country. To get to the Lost City it is necessary to take a tour with an authorized agency. It will be a 4 or 5 day tour in the mountains. Although it is quite an intense hike, we assure you that it will be worth it. Tayrona National Natural Park If you prefer the beach, visit the Tayrona Park. Only 32 Km from Santa Marta, it is easy to get there by bus or if you prefer you can take a tour with an agency.
