The Buritaca River holds a rich biodiversity and a unique culture in the world. Its fresh water flows directly from the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada and transforms into beautiful waterfalls before reaching the Caribbean Sea. It is a unique site, where early in the morning, swimming in the sea, it is possible to observe the Bolivar and Colon peaks.
Depart from an agreed meeting point (Hostel, Santa Marta, Taganga, Rodadero) to Buritaca, around 90min by vehicle.
30 minute walk to reach the waterfall Quebrada Valencia.
Free time to swim in the waterfalls.
Walk back 30min to have lunch.
Free time on the beach or in the Buritaca River.
Return to Santa Marta, Taganga or Rodadero, around 1 hour by vehicle.
